*New This Week on Somerville Voices <http://www.somervillevoices.org/>**August
25, 2008*
This week, besides the new posts summarized below, we've had a furious
argument in the comments on Carl Sciortino's
write-in/sticker<goog_1219711657297>campaign<http://www.somervillevoices.org/2008/08/15/politics/sciortino-launches-website-releases-mailing-to-raise-awareness-of-write-in-campaign/>for
re-election to the state House of Representatives. And
several interesting new comments debating Matt McLaughlin's post on Union
Square rezoning<http://www.somervillevoices.org/2008/07/21/housing/matt-mclaughlin-of-sos-on-union-square-don%e2%80%99t-let-residents-be-forced-out/>.
Nancy Milnor: The Director of The Somerville Public
Library<http://www.somervillevoices.org/2008/08/20/uncategorized/nancy-milnor-the-director-of-the-somerville-public-library/>
by Doug Holder
The last thing you expect to encounter is a lilting Southern accent when you
walk into the Director's office at the Central Branch of the Somerville
Public Library. But that's part of the package you get with the new Director
Nancy Milnor. Milnor is a native of Tennessee and has run libraries in
Galveston, Texas, St. Louis Missouri, to name just a few locales. Milnor's
last job was the relatively "genteel" position of director of the
Connecticut Historical Library. She left those tony environs to work in the
milieu that is her first love: the public library system. Progressive Voices
has been BUSY!<http://www.somervillevoices.org/2008/08/20/environment-and-open-space/progressive-voices-has-been-busy/>

Importance of Community Television with guest Wendy Blom. Exec. Dir. of SCAT
and 3′rd: All about Green Jobs with guests Mary Jo Connelly and Laurie
Leyshon. Check out their Video
Blog<http://progressivevoicessomerville.blogspot.com/>to watch these
and other Progressive Voices Programs. Progressive Voices…
